One thing that comes to mind, Android has apps that allows callers to change the number they're calling from to any number(s) they would like to use. For instance:

To me it sounds like a possible technical problem, perhaps some kind of bad connection. The number certainly is weird, but sometimes I get texts from numbers that are about that long, for instance from websites. Maybe it had something to do with an internet site sending text messages to phone number...
