Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary

When I was in the sixth grade, I had a friend named Brenda. I would stay at her house almost every weekend. Brenda had a friend who lived across the street, and her name was Crystal.

One weekend, we were all hanging out. Somehow the subject of Bloody Mary came up. I had never heard of this before. Brenda and Crystal told me all about it. They told me if you go into the dark, and say "Bloody Mary" into a mirror three times, a woman would appear and she is Bloody Mary.

They told me they had already done it and saw Bloody Mary. They wanted me to do it with them. I was scared. I refused to do the Bloody Mary thing.

Brenda and Crystal called me all kinds of names, and tried to talk me into it.

So, I sat on the couch in the living room praying, while they went into the bathroom and did the Bloody Mary thing. I heard them say the words, "Bloody Mary" three times, and then they squealed and ran out of the bathroom.

"We saw her again!" They yelled at me. They said to me, "How could you not want to see this? It's proof that ghosts and stuff are real! Don't you want to know? You gotta see this!"

They repeated the ritual a few mores times, and each time they said they saw her.

They said she seemed pretty angry, and she really had blood all over her. I was terrified, and I could not understand why anyone would want to see that.

And, not only see it once, but they wanted to see her again and again. They ran out of the bathroom screaming every time they tried the ritual.

Then something bad happened. They went in the bathroom again, and I heard them say, "Bloody Mary" three times. There was silence for a few seconds, and then I heard a growl.

This was a loud growl like a real tiger was in that bathroom, and there is no way a sixth grade girl could have made that sound. There is just no way.

Brenda and Crystal came running out of the bathroom, screaming. Their screaming was different this time. The screaming wasn't playful, it was as though they were scared for their lives.

I asked them what happened. Crystal was Crying. Brenda appeared to be in shock, and stared ahead at nothing and wasn't talking or responding to us. Crystal told me that Brenda had put her face on the mirror.

That's right, when they saw Bloody Marry, Brenda thought it would be a good idea to put her own face onto the mirror, pressing her cheek to the glass. This is when the growl happened.

Crystal didn't know what happened but she remembered the growl noise. Crystal couldn't remember if Bloody Mary did anything. The growl was just so loud, that they instinctively ran for their lives.

As Brenda came out of her shock or trance or whatever it was, she didn't remember the growl or anything that happened. Brenda didn't remember it at all.

She remembered going into the bathroom to do the Bloody Mary ritual for like the fifth time, but she had no memory of the growl or of running out of the bathroom.

Starting that night, Brenda was never the same. Frankly, she became a bi**h from that moment on. She had hate in her eyes that wasn't there before.

She was mean to me, from that moment on. We could no longer be friends. She starting having s*x with boys and smoking. I was convinced she was possessed.

Since that incident, I have been terrified of mirrors. I never got over it. I try to tell myself that those girls were just playing a joke on me, but the growl is what messes up that theory.

I heard tigers growling viciously at the Zoo once, and that is the only sound that even comes close to what I heard that night.

I have also heard that Bloody Mary is a misunderstood lost soul, but I have no idea if that is true.

Mirrors are scary.
