Didn't I Just See You?

Didn't I Just See You?

When I was still in high school, I had a very close friend by the name of Ryan. He and I were in choir and French together, although he was in the grade ahead of me, so that was about all we saw of each other on school time.

Only twice, he and I went ghost hunting.

Before I continue, I'm going to do a little public service announcement. If you don't want to hear it, skip to the next paragraph. If you do go ghost hunting, please, please, please do so LEGALLY.

As far as I know, in most states, it is ILLEGAL to be in cemeteries after dark. Please do research on your local laws, and do not trespass.

No ghost encounter is worth being arrested, or having a shotgun pointed at you by the owner of the property.

Ryan and I decided to go ghost hunting. Out where I live, there are a number of small graveyards; some are remarkably old. Along with my brother and a friend of ours named Mike, we all went out "graveyard hopping."

It wasn't terribly interesting, as the first two didn't have anything going on, although I enjoy graveyards anyways. The third graveyard we went to was actually interesting. It's a triangular shape, tucked between two almost parallel roads.

It was heavy with trees, but it also had rather recent headstones. We made it a point to stay together, which was a good idea, because there were briars to pick apart in order to go past.

At some point, and I don't know why, we did split apart, but into two groups; Ryan and I went one way while my brother and Mike went the other.

I found a headstone with no death date (I didn't understand what that was at the time). I turned my head left and saw Ryan's shape walking behind a headstone about 20 feet away.

"Ryan!" I called over to him, wanting him to see this headstone.

Then I felt fingers lacing through mine on my right hand. Whipping my head around, Ryan was right there.

"Didn't I just-" I started.
"...I saw that, too." He looked concerned.

Mike and my brother came from behind us, wondering why I was yelling. So it wasn't them.

We didn't stay long after that. We called it a night. We haven't gone back out since.
