Evidence of Paranormal Activity
Evidence of paranormal activity, simply your own proof that something else is there with you. Some ways to tell the difference between the normal functions of your home(or what ever you are checking out) and something being amiss.
Object placement: objects moving could be counted as activity. Lets say you put your keys on the kitchen counter then they end up on the coffee table in the living room yet you nor your housemates have moved them, providing your housemates aren't playing a sick joke on you, you could count that.
Even better seeing with your own eyes or catching on film something moving on it's own, a chair, books, nick-nacks, etc.
Images: taking a photo, a still image of something and getting more.
What is Paranormal?
Paranormal: adjective of or pertaining to the claimed occurrence of an event or perception without scientific explanation, as psychokinesis, extrasensory perception, or other purportedly supernatural phenomena.
So in a nutshell that sounds like anything weird or messed up that has happened or is happening that you just can't explain any other way.
Forms of Paranormal activity
There are many different types of paranormal activity. You could be encountering just one type or a few different once at a time, or in the same place.
1. Haunting; (adjective) remaining in the consciousness; not quickly forgotten. 2 (noun) the act of a person or thing that haunts; visitation. This kind of activity is claimed a lot. More stories deal in in such an activity. There are two types of a Haunting. A residual haunting is rather common.
A residual haunting is a routine haunting, the activity repeats itself, the actions carried out by the entity repeat.
The entity is stuck in the place of it's death. This is not like an intelligent haunting. An intelligent haunt has an entity or maybe a group of entities that are aware of the living that is around them. Sometimes they will try to communicate sometimes they will try to scare. It just depends on that entity.
2. Demonic Possession: is the supposed control over a human form by a demon. this is a very hard topic for me to stomach. I've never seen it done. I've never dealt with it. A demon is a none human entity, an entity that has never lived. Personally I've encounterd some for myself and well they are far from nice.
A spirit believed to manifest its presence by rappings and other noises and also by acts of mischief, such as throwing furniture about.
Many people confuse poltergeist phenomena with a typical house haunting, but it is in fact completely different. Poltergeist phenomena is psychokinetic energy typically caused by an ongoing stressful situation. Many times it is caused by a teenager going through puberty, or a menopausal woman.
White Noise Phenomena
Many of you have probably seen the movie with Michael Keaton, "White Noise" and are familiar with the concept. The premise of the movie is obsession with white noise and whether to believe the voices or is it an access/conduit to evil, an invitation, invocation, summoning?
Do you believe that you can contact the spirit of the dead by using white noise and converse with them or are you really contacting the right person?
White noise is connected with EVP:
What is EVP?
Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) concerns unexpected voices found in recording media. It is a form of after death communication. ITC is a newer term that includes all of the ways these unexpected voices and images are collected through technology, including EVP.
Of the many hypotheses designed to explain these phenomena, the Survival Hypothesis has been found to be most effective in answering the evidence.
What is the Survival Hypothesis?
The Survival Hypothesis holds that we are nonphysical entities who are able to exist in the physical aspect of reality because of our physical body, but that when our physical body dies, we as Self, change our point of view to nonphysical reality.
In effect, we exist before and after our current lifetime. The working hypothesis supported by AA-EVP is that these messages are, indeed, nonphysical in origin and that the Survival Hypothesis is essentially correct. It is the goal of AA-EVP and its membership to find ways to improve the reception of these messages and to better understand their origin.
Epilepsy and the Paranormal
A type of epileptic fit called a complex partial seizure occurs as a result of abnormal electrical activity in a brain region called the temporal lobe. It's been known for decades that people who suffer from this type of epilepsy also report paranormal experiences more frequently than most.
Especially in the era before epilepsy could be well controlled and prevented by drugs, there were reports of out of body experiences, sensed presence of a sentient being and time distortions taking place during seizures.
Similar sensations have also occurred when surgeons directly stimulate certain areas within the temporal lobe of the brain. The hourly incidence of temporal lobe seizures was measured in the 19th century before there was epilepsy medication.
Modern researchers have suggested that there are correlations between these century old results and the circadian distribution of reports of sensed presences. So overall, the neuropsychologists seem to think that the temporal lobe of the brain is a key player in paranormal experiences.
Even if you're not epileptic, the more sensitive your temporal lobe is, the more likely you are to experience the paranormal. If you've got a lot of electrical activity going on in a part of the temporal lobe called the amygdale, then you're most likely to infuse sensory experience with enhanced meaning.
Geomagnetism and the Paranormal
Bereavement apparitions tend to occur as a disruption to dream sleep about 3 days after the death of a loved one. As far as brain chemistry goes, they correlate with some chemical changes like increase in a hormone called CRF (corticotrophin releasing factor.)
Remarkably, there's also a well established link to slight alterations in global geomagnetic activity. The association has been reported since the 1930s, and increased geomagnetic activity can even be used, quite accurately as a predictor of sleep disruption and paranormal experiences. Unsurprisingly perhaps, there is also an increase in the incidence of epileptic seizures.
The shifts in magnetic field strength may decrease night time levels of a sleep hormone called melatonin, and increase CRF, all of which may help set the stage for seizures or paranormal experiences in people with sensitive temporal lobes.
Some researchers have measured unusually strong or fluctuating magnetic fields in places that are said to be haunted, and this has been proposed as a rational explanation for ghosts.
Infrasound and the Paranormal
Infrasound waves are pitched so low that the human ear can't hear them. But some experiments have suggested that they can be perceived in some subconscious way and cause feelings of nervousness and sensed presences. In one case, a fan in an apparently haunted house was found to be producing a low frequency sound wave. After the fan was fixed, the experiences of haunting disappeared.
Phenomena like the ghost that turned out to be a fan are immensely satisfying and reassuring to skeptics who believe that all paranormal events can eventually be explained rationally.
But unexplained events and experiences have been part of the human experience for millennia, and to lots of people they are very real, and doubtless will remain so, no matter how much the scientists talk about temporal lobe sensitivity.
In fact, modern methods of checking paranormal claims, like those of the psychic Mr H, sometimes provide surprising results. Indeed, Mr H could have been justified in quoting Hamlet to his investigators - "there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy"
